CDS/ISIS




INTRODUCTION: -

CDS/ISI means “Computerized Documentation system/Integrated Set of
Information System”


(1) The ISIS package developed by the ILO in the late 1960’s
(2) CDS/ISIS was originally developed and conceived as a system for internal use in the UNESCO secretariat.
(3) UNESCO had been producing and distributing version 2.3 of Mini_Micro CDS/ISIS since the spring 1989. The package is developed in the context of the UNECO General Information Programme (GIP) allows organizations to use and copy it for their own use free of charge.
(4) In India the National Information System for Science and Technology (NISSAT) Department of Scientific and Industrial Research Government of India, New Delhi
Distribute it on behalf of UNESCO.
(5) 1983 CDS/ISIS was distributed to over 80 national institutions.

(6) This package was written in Pascal language . This is mainly developed for bibliographic information of the Document
(7) This is menu driven software package.

Create a new database – Press – in the main menu D -data base definition services. Will

Lead us to the following sub main menu.

I ----- Re Initialize Data Base

R ----- unlock Data Base

X ----- Exit

Step3: -

Choose the option C for define a new data base

STEP4: -

Program will ask us to define a new data base name

EX: - 100 (or) Pra (or) EXY (or) 000 (or) pxt any

One choose your are required to complete four (4) forms in setting up the data base

(1) The field definition table(FDT)
(2) The data entry worksheet
(3) The display format
(4) The field select table (FST)
